Friday night saw a power line up of, As Everything Unfolds - P.O.D and Skindred take to the stage at Ovo Arena Wembley.
The night was nothing short of spectacular from the start. As Everything Unfolds opened the night with a very powerful set that made them look right at home on the absolutely huge stage as the room filled with fans. I can't see it being too long before they start headlining shows like this themselves.
Next on the bill was Nu-metal legends P.O.D whose following is as strong today as it was 30 years ago. Between each song were roars of POD being chanted, it felt as if this was their show and if this is how people were going to react now, how would they be for Skindred?
The band made their way through some of the best of their catalogue opening the show with 'Drop' and 'Boom' while Midset they had the crowd screaming along to 'Youth of The Nation' which sounded absolutely stunning from the back of the arena. To finishing their set with the ever popular 'Alive'
Its safe to say, the love for P.O.D will forever remain and I am incredibly excited to see them come back later in the year!
Now was time for the finale! The reason we were all there. Newports finest. Skindred. As the lights hit and the powerful intro of 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC rang through the arena, everyone eagerly awaited for the band to enter the stage.
Watching from the side for the first minute of 'Set Fazers' allowed me to just sit back and take in just for a moment what the band must see and feel as the crowd went crazy just as confetti canons fired over the fans.
The always on point set saw us experience the very best of Skindred as they played everything from 'Babylon' up to their latest release 'Smile' which came 2nd in the UK charts when it was released.
Benji is one of the best showman/frontmen of modern music. He has the crowd eating out of the palm of his hands from start to finish and this showed when he had the crowd Singing along to L.O.V.E before standing silently taking in every word during the ever emotional 'If I Could'
As the night came to and end you could feel the love and excitement around the room from what we had all experienced. I've seen the band on many occasions and they never fail to hit the mark and to then watch an almost sold out Wembley arena go crazy for the Newport Helicopter during 'Warning' as confetti and streamers landed all around it made me realise just how special this band and this music scene really is.
